"Transformers" and "G.I. Joe" Writer Ron Friedman Has Passed Away

According to Variety, Writer Ron Friedman passed away on September 15th at the age of 93. His cause of death was cardiopulmonary arrest. He passed at the Motion Picture and Television Fund in Woodland Hills.

Transformers fans may not have seen Friedman's name up front in G1 episodes but his influence was felt throughout as he served as an editor behind the scenes, often modifying scripts to make the entire series more cohesive. According to the TFWiki, popular affectations such as Warpath's "Bam! Pow!" were a product of Friedman's imagination. Most fans will know him as the writer of "The Transformers: The Movie" where he wrote two drafts which were then reworked by writer Flint Dille.

Friedman's career also involved iconic shows such as "Starsky & Hutch", "The Dukes of Hazzard" and "Gilligan's Island".
