Transformers returned to the US in 1992 with a full relaunch involving old and new characters. Set in a violent and dangerous time in Transformers history, the line introduced new toy technologies and innovative play that would carry over to future Transformers lines for years to come.

1992
The Transformers return with the release of many familiar toys, hitting a bit of nostalgia with fans who grew up in the 80's. Europe meanwhile received several new figures and characters.
1993
A whole new cast of characters is introduced into the Transformers universe including color change Transformers and others whose engines become their weapons. The trend of European exclusive figures continues with the likes of Pyro and Clench.
1994
Familiar faces return in the form of the Aerialbots and Combaticons! Also introduced are the highly articulated Laser Rods and new versions of Optimus Prime and Megatron.
1995
Generation 2 comes to a close with the introduction of the highly articulated Cyberjets and the Go-Bots, Hot Wheels sized vehicles that transform. Several old characters receive new forms including Jetfire, Optimus Prime and Frenzy.
