"Generations" Toy Review Index

The line that began with Classics continues as the Transformers celebrate their heritage with classic characters in all new forms! Drawing from sources ranging from Generation One to Animated this series also brings back characters who have not had new versions in over a decade!


2010-11
The "Generations" line begins with figures that cover everything from the "War for Cybertron" video games to updated versions of Generation One characters including Thunderwing and Warpath.

2012-13
After a short break, the "Generations" line resumed with Asia exclusives, the return of Combiners and figures based on the "Fall of Cybertron" video game.

2013-14
The IDW Universe becomes a part of the inspiration for "Generations" with designs directly from the comic book appearing in the toy line. This year also introduced a new standard for the "Legends" Class figure and brought the "Leader" Class into the line. Most notable is the "Titan" Class consisting of the giant Autobot city Metroplex!

2014-15
The Combiner Wars become the focus of the "Generations" toy line, bringing fans new incarnations of G1 Combiner characters such as Superion and Menasor. The Leader Class expands and the Titan Class returns as well.

2015-16
The Titans have returned bringing with them Headmaster technology with all new versions of characters like Galvatron and Blaster! Also introduced are figures that transform into bases that can connect to one another.

2016-17
The era of the Titans passes as the original Thirteen Primes return! Forming Sparks that can power up Autobots or Decepticons, the Primes hide out in Pretender Decoy suits until they are needed.

2017-18
The "Power of the Primes" continues as Combiners and Primes change the balance of power forever!

2018-19
A new trilogy begins with the "War for Cybertron" beginning millions of years ago on Cybertron where the Autobots are under Siege by the Decepticons.  Meanwhile, Studio Series continues with figures from several films including the "Bumblebee" Movie.

2019-20
The Siege is over, but now the next chapter of the "War for Cybertron" series has begun: Earthrise!  Meanwhile the "Selects" line grows rapidly and "Studio Series" continues.  Also, a special unboxing event gives BWTF an early start on "Kingdom" reviews!

2020-21
Earthrise has passed and in its place: Kingdom!  Featuring Beast Wars and G1 characters mixed up into one toy line, this is the conclusion of the three part arc.

2021-22
Kingdom wraps up its run and Legacy begins spanning various generations of the Transformers saga from G1 to Transformers: Prime!

2022-23
Legacy continues with the next phase of this cross universe line: Evolution!  Characters from across the multi-verse continue to come together to battle it out using the new "Evo Fusion" technology!

2023-2024
Legacy concludes with Legacy United which introduces the rocky Armorizers and characters from new segments of the Transformers line including Animated and Rescue Bots!  Meanwhile, Studio Series continues with Game and Movie based characters.
