Transformers has always been a science fiction show that took inspiration (and sometimes sound effects) from other science fiction/fantasy programs. Now the tables have turned with the most recent episode of Star Trek: Picard taking inspiration from the opening scene of The Transformers: The Movie! In the 1986 film, we are introduced to the character of Unicron as he passes in between two suns. In "Picard", the Starship Titan is hiding out near a sun. Hot on the heels of announcing the BotBots cartoon, Netflix has posted a trailer featuring our first look at the animation and characters in the show! If you have a Netflix account, going to the BotBots listing will auto-play the trailer, but Shawflix on Youtube has uploaded the trailer for a wider audience. Check it out in the embed below! BotBots is scheduled to debut on Netflix on March 25, 2022.

After a couple years of rumors and anticipation, Hasbro has finally officially revealed the upcoming Transformers: BotBots animated series! Check out the press release and preview image below:

Transformers have had decades to cement themselves into pop culture and they sometimes pop up in the most unexpected places. On the February 16, 2022 episode of the Jeopardy! National College Championship one of the clues was "These toys that became a TV and Movie franchise sprang from Japanese toy lines called Diaclone and Micro Change" which of course references the Transformers brand! Megan Sullivan, a Junior at the University of Virginia provided the correct answer (or really, question given the show's format) earning her $400 in the process!

Transformers fans who were looking forward to seeing Autobots, Decepticons, Maximals, Predacons and Terrorcons mixing it up on the big screen will have to wait an additional year.  According to Deadline, Rise of the Beasts has been moved from June 24, 2022 all the way to June 9, 2023.  No reason was cited for this move, however the Cybertronians are not alone.  A new Star Trek film that had been in development has

Sad news from the world of voice acting. Arlene Thornton & Associates has announced via Instagram that Generation One voice actor Jack Angel has passed away at the age of 90. Long time Transformers fans heard Angel's voice in G1 as characters including Ramjet, Smokescreen, Omega Supreme, Astrotrain and Ultra Magnus. His career goes back to the 70s on shows such as Challenge of th eSuper Friends and Scooby Doo and Scrappy-Doo.

In a fun surprise, Hasbro Pulse has posted the entire first season of the original Transformers cartoon to their Youtube channel! While most fans likely already have this in their media collections, it is cool to have it readily available on this platform. I've embedded the episodes below for your convenience.

Sad news came over the weekend from several news outlets including Deadline. Actress Markie Post passed away on August 7, 2021 at the age of 70 after a three year battle with cancer. Post's acting career began in the late 70's and continued into the 80's with appearances in classic shows including CHiPs, The Incredible Hulk, Buck Rogers in the 25th Century, and The Fall Guy.
