The Autobots and Decepticons use Prime Masters to wield the incredible powers of the most legendary bots in the universe: the Primes. Prime Masters carry the spark of a Prime, allowing them to share a Prime's godlike ability with other bots. How will the Terrorcon sentry wield this epic power? Anything is possible and everything is at stake when the Power of the Primes is unleashed! Transformers Generations Power of the Primes Deluxe Class figures are 5.5-inch-scale figures that come with a Prime Armor accessory. Insert a Prime Master figure (not included, each sold separately) into the accessory, attach it to the figure's chest, and imagine Sinnertwin wields the power of a Prime. Figure Specs: Deluxe Class Terrorcon Sinnertwin Modes: robot, 2-headed monster Converts in 13 steps Includes Prime Armor accessory and collector card Also works with Prime Master figures (Not included. Each sold separately. Subject to availability.) Transformers and all related characters are trademarks of Hasbro.

In 1987 Hasbro released a team of Decepticons known as the Terrorcons. These five creatures each transformed from a robot to some type of beast and then all five team members could combine to form the Combiner, Abominus! When Abominus' arch enemy Computron was released for "Combiner Wars", many fans wondered when Abominus would appear in the toy line and now we have him as part of "Power of the Primes"! Sinnertwin was one of the original Terrorcons and this new figure features classic design elements of the character along with some updating styling. Sinnertwin was the first Terrorcon I owned back in the G1 days and it took me years to complete the team. For many years I just had Sinnertwin and Blot as my Terrorcons, so I have an affection for the character mostly from that perspective. While Sinnertwin has not appeared a lot in the Transformers toy line over the years, an "alt universe" version of him popped up as "Beast Hunters" Twinstrike back in 2013.

Packaging:
The Deluxe Class figures for "Power of the Primes" are packaged in a blister bubble glued to a card. The card continues the current trend of having a red Transformers logo set vertically on the right side (if you are facing the card) with the "Generations" logo above it. Most of the card is covered in character artwork. In Sinnertwin's case his artwork shows him in beast mode with both his heads roaring. The figure is in robot mode inside the bubble with the accessories to the side. The insert inside the bubble has the "Power of the Primes" logo on it with the character's name. The back of the packaging shows Sinnertwin in his various modes including having the Prime Armor attached. On the right side it shows the Prime Armor attached with Solus Prime inside the Armor. There is a cosell showing Solus Prime, Quintus Prime and Megatronus.

The "Power of the Primes" figures from Legends Class up come with collectors cards. However, unlike the "Titans Return" cards which featured tech spec stats, these focus on what ability the character gets if they connect to a specific Prime Master Spark. This means there are thirteen potential card variations per character (one for each Prime)! In my copy of the Sinnertwin figure I received a "Liege Maximo Sinnertwin" card, saying that he can speak in a terrifying voice that sounds like "ripping metal".

Accessories:
Sinnertwin includes two accessories. The larger one is his "Prime Armor". This piece is designed to connect via 5mm peg to either the chest or the area behind the beast mode head as armor. There is a plastic panel in the middle that you can remove to attach either a Titan Master in head mode or a Prime Master in "Spark" mode. This Prime Armor piece is a reuse of the sculpt from the Dinobots, featuring spikes as knuckles. The Prime Armor is cast in green plastic. This is a key color on Sinnertwin himself.

The other accessory is based on G1 Sinnertwin's cannon, however instead of being a giant cannon it is sized more like a large hand held weapon. The section towards the back is thick with a thinner, raised section on top. The barrel then extends forward, narrowing as it does so. For anyone familiar with G1 Sinnertwin and his accessories, the inspiration for this weapon will be immediately obvious. This piece is cast in the same green as the Prime Armor.

Robot Mode:
During "Combiner Wars", Hasbro and Takara Tomy found creative ways to heavily retool figures from one character to another. That tradition continues with Sinnertwin. Sinnertwin is a heavy retool of "Power of the Primes" Snarl. However, the two figures do not look much like one another, and that is mostly because they only share some smaller parts. These include the hips, thighs, parts of the chest and some of the panels on the back of the legs. Everything else appears to be brand new parts. Many of these include designs inspired by G1 Sinnertwin. These include:

  • The head sculpt features the rectangular, blocky shape that many of the G1 Combiners had. The design also includes his visor style eyes and the small details etched into the sides of the "helmet" section.
  • The chest has angled panels with rectangular details in the middle.
  • Between the chest and waist area there are some vent-like details.
  • The knee armor on both legs looks like a thin strip in the center of the knees.
  • There are mechanical looking details on the front of the lower legs reminiscent of the stickers on G1 Sinnertwin's legs.
  • Like G1 Sinnertwin, the rear legs of the beast mode wind up on the sides of the lower legs.

All that said, the G1 action figure had very chunky proportions. This figure has proportions more in line with the cartoon model used in G1. This includes his arms being distinct pieces on the sides of the body instead of only being forearms sticking out of the torso. Overall the sculpt looks fantastic.

Sinnertwin is cast in yellow and green plastic, roughly matching up with the colors on G1 Sinnertwin. The paint colors used on this figure are silver, yellow, purple and red. Silver is used on the arms, mid-body and lower legs. Red paint is used on the lower legs and chest. The left shoulder has a Decepticon symbol tampographed onto it. One of my favorite details on this deco is a Decepticon symbol sticker in the middle of the chest. This symbol is purple against a black background. The idea was to call back to the heat sensitive "rub symbols" of G1 and it looks great. Most of this deco is intended to serve as callbacks to the deco and stickers on G1 Sinnertwin.

There are fourteen points of articulation on this figure. The quality control on this figure is good. All the joints on my copy of this figure are nice and tight. Sinnertwin has 5mm ports in his fists and one on the side of each shoulder, allowing you to arm him up with extra weaponry. If you want to give him some armor, attach the Prime Armor to the 5mm port on the chest.

Transformation to Beast Mode:

  1. Detach the accessories and set them aside for now.
  2. Straighten out the arms and legs.
  3. Swing each fist into the forearms.
  4. Swing the beast mode feet up.
  5. Swing the front legs back.
  6. Pull the back piece up.
  7. Swing the head back, then swing the back piece back down.
  8. Raise the beast mode neck/head sections up.
  9. Swing the lower parts of the front legs forward.
  10. Push the two lower legs together.
  11. Swing the back panels on the lower legs out.
  12. Swing the legs down.
  13. Swing the panels from the back of the legs in.
  14. Swing the tail halves back.
  15. Rotate the rear legs down.
  16. Attach the blaster to the back.
  17. The Prime Armor can be attached to the top or sides of the front legs.

Beast Mode:
Sinnertwin is a four legged, two headed monster in beast mode like his G1 counterpart. He is rather chunky in this mode since a lot of his parts condense to form this mode. I was very happy to see details like the segmented armor on the necks and the two tails in the back were carried over from G1 Sinnertwin. The figure also shows off some really nicely sculpted details on the back, including raised armor panels, a tube in the center and some raised lines on the sides. The sculpt looks like it popped out of the G1 cartoon with more details and I think it looks great.

This mode shows off a lot of yellow plastic concentrated on the heads, necks and main body. Green plastic winds up on the sides via the legs and the tail. Silver, red and purple paint are used for detailing. This includes purple on his horns, red on the eyes and silver on the teeth. These colors all line up nicely with G1 Sinnertwin and they pop nicely against the yellow plastic.

There are twelve points of articulation in this mode. The neck/head articulation in particular is great. You can raise the necks up and point the heads forward, making the figure look more dynamic. You can attach his blaster to the back, calling back to G1 Sinnertwin. You can also attach Prime Armor in the same spot or the sides. The back of the beast mode also has two pegs to attach Titan Masters or Prime Masters. That's a good amount of play value for a beast mode.

Transformation to Leg Mode (Starting in beast mode):

  1. Detach any accessories and set them aside for now.
  2. Swing the tails up.
  3. Swing the beast mode arms up.
  4. Swing the front beast mode legs back.
  5. Swing the Combiner connector piece up.
  6. Attach the foot piece to the port under the legs.

*Note: The Prime Armor accessory included with Blot does not transform into a foot. It only becomes a fist or it can connect to a foot piece included with Hun-Gurrr to form a stabilizing heel piece.

Leg Mode:
In the G1 cartoon, Sinnertwin traditionally formed Abominus' right leg, but of course in this mode you can use him to form either leg. There was not much to the animated design. Essentially he was a big yellow rectangle with a foot attached. The big difference in design are the beast mode heads being in front. In G1 they were in the back.

Thanks to the 5mm ports on the sides of the front legs you can add additional weaponry to make Abominus even more powerful!

Transformation to Arm Mode (Starting in beast mode):

  1. Detach any accessories and set them aside for now.
  2. Swing the rear legs up.
  3. On the bottom of the figure, swing out the panels on the lower legs. This is best done by holding on to the tails and pulling them out to the sides gently.
  4. Swing out the 5mm port.
  5. Swing the two panels together, then push the tails down.
  6. Swing the front beast mode legs up, then rotate the lower parts of the legs around and push them against the tabs on the torso section.
  7. Swing the beast mode necks and head up and back.
  8. Swing out the Combiner connector piece.
  9. Attach the fist piece to the 5mm port at the end of the forearm.
  10. Rotate the lower body around.

Arm Mode:
Abominus is traditionally a rather chunky and powerful looking Combiner, both in the G1 toy and animated forms. Thanks to that, the chunky arm formed by Sinnertwin looks perfectly natural on the Combiner. Like the leg mode, the extra ports on the sides and near the shoulder area allow you to attach additional weaponry, giving Abominus some extra firepower.

Thanks to how surprisingly tight the joints on this figure turned out, the arm can actually hold up a Legends Class figure in weapon mode without having to bend the arm all the way in. This is a rarity among these figures so I was surprised by it.

Final Thoughts:
Sinnertwin was one of my favorite toys as a kid, and as an adult I am very happy with his newest incarnation. The Q/C on this figure is good, he faithfully interprets the character into a new age. I do wish his cannon had been made into a larger weapon while retaining his smaller blaster, but that is a minor quibble. Recommended!

Pros:

  • Sculpt is faithful to G1 Sinnertwin.
  • Good deco.
  • Joints are nice and tight.
  • Good articulation.

Cons:

  • I would have liked one more weapon to match G1 Sinnertwin.
