General Information: *The term does correctly translate as "Embush Hit", perhaps the writers meant for "Ambush" to be used. Images:
Robotmasters is a line mostly made up of redecos. And it seems that whenever Takara decides to do redecos, they try to use good old "stand by" molds. The Spychangers are a great example of this. In recent time, another set of molds has been reused as well: Machine Wars molds. When Machine Wars was released in 1997, it introduced four new molds. Each was given two different decos to serve as two different characters. One of these molds was used for both Skywarp and Thundercracker in that line. Later, it would go on to be released in Beast Wars the Second as Dirge. Following that, it appeared in the Robots in Disguise line as Skyfire. Now the sculpt is back as a new Destron warrior: Wing Stun.
Tech Specs (Translated by Doug Dlin): Profile: Part of the senior group among the forces, assigned to energy management. Specializes in attacking from the enemy's blind spot, making use of his dominant arm (the right). The most capable of his team in using their combined weapon, the Arsenal Force. Weapon(s): Jamming Trident, Embush Hit
Robot Mode:
Wing Stun has nine points of articulation. While seemingly a bit low by today's standards, keep in mind that this is a toy designed back in 1996, about eight years ago. In its time, the toy was the standard. Also, it's worth noting that all these points of articulation are ball joints, even the head. The sculpt for this toy is a nice one, with a good amount of detail. On the arms and legs you'll find plenty of detail lines and nice angled pieces that stray away from a more boxy look that simple right angles would have created. It's also great to see the various panels of armor on the chest sculpted in. It really gives the toy a more realistic appearance (and yes, I know I'm talking about a transforming jet here). I like the head design as it is simple, yet unique, with a wide, "V" shaped design on the top, visor eyes and a cool mouthplate. It looks almost like some futuristic pilot's helmet. Wing Stun's primary color is green with brown and light green camouflage patterns. Black is also used for parts on the head, arms, central body and legs. Yellow can be found on the tips of the wings on his arms and on the chest, giving a nice bright contrast color to spice things up. Translucent orange plastic is used for the cockpit on his chest and the visor eyes. The eyes are set up with the translucent plastic piece making up part of the back of the head for light piping, which with this color of plastic, works very well. Finally, a nice Decepticon symbol adorns the middle body section. I like the use of silver to outline the symbol instead of white, it's a nice look. One thing which really differentiates this release of the sculpt from others is the inclusion of an additional weapon: the "Jamming Trident". This weapon is made out of translucent green plastic, and it is exactly what the name describes - a trident. He can use this weapon in this mode and it can be combined with the other Destron weapons from this wave to form the Destron weapon known as the "Arsenal Force". It's a neat addition to the toy and looks very cool. Transformation to Vehicle Mode:
Vehicle Mode: Like its robot mode, the vehicle mode is mostly green with camo patterns of brown and light green splashed across the jet. On either wing is a large Decepticon symbol, again purple with a silver outline. Black fills in detail here as well, making up a portion of the middle going down to the nosecone and the ends of the vents/thrusters at the rear. The missiles, oddly enough, are painted white. For you variation buffs, the date has been changed on the underside of the wings to 2000, indicating this is the updated mold used for the Robots in Disguise release.
