Tech Specs (Translated by Doug Dlin): Weapon(s): Shotmaker/Radial Pod
You can't keep a good sculpt down. For the fourth time in the Transformers line, the Generation 2 Smokescreen sculpt has been used for a Decepticon. Like the toy's previous releases, this one takes a new identity: Smokesniper. Check out the RiD Dreadwind review for a detailed review of the toy itself (this will be readded soon). This review will cover the changes made to the toy for this release.
Robot Mode: The missile launchers are dark grey with yellow painted on and light blue ends. The missiles are blue. However, color is not all that's changed. The missile launcher pegs have been shrunken down (and thus the holes on Smokesniper's hands are smaller than those of his predecessors). This was done to allow him to hold the new/additional weapon included with the toy, the "Radial Pod" weapon. The Radial Pod weapon is molded in translucent green plastic. It's basically a rectangular weapon with twin cannons. In robot mode, you can easily just attach one of the missile launchers to Smokesniper's back so he can hold all three weapons at once. This weapon can attach to the one included with Gigant-Bomb. All of Smokesniper's joints feel fine save one. The left shoulder hinge (not the shoulder itself) is a bit loose compared to the right. But that barely hampers any play or posability value.
Vehicle Mode: Smokesniper is certainly not shy about his affiliation. On the nosecone there is a Decepticon symbol with silver trim that looks awesome. On the rear fins, there is a Decepticon symbol on each. A bit of silver is used on the light blue section for vents. Overall this is a very nice color scheme. It certainly differentiates him from all his predecessors. Smokesniper can combine with Gigant-Bomb in vehicle mode by sliding into the port at Gigant-Bomb's back in vehicle mode. Check out his review for pictures.
