Beast Wars Neo Archadis Toy Review
Beast Mode: Archaeopteryx
Function: Air Supremacy Soldier
A stylish snob, Archadis worries over how many feathers he loses in battle. He is highly cunning and talkative. His wings are armed with Wing Gundreads, rapid-fire cannons, and can drop Wing Bombs. He prides himself on his abundance of firearms, including the Founder Shot in his right arm.

For his role in the Beast Wars, Archadis takes on the beast form of an archaeopteryx, an air based creature from another age. Although many Beast Wars "bird" forms have been done before, this toy uses a different transformation style and includes some neat features which make it an interesting piece.
In beast mode, Archadis is an archaeopteryx. The colors used in this beast modeare many, primarily being green, purple, shades of blue and gold. These colors are all meshed together well, with beautiful blending happening all over the toy. One of Archadis' best features is that it is not very bulky in the beast mode. It is very lithe and sleek.
In beast mode, Archadis has eight points of articulation. Among the nicest parts of this toy are the neck articulation and two pointed articulation on the beast mode legs. Underneath Archadis' wings are two green plastic pieces, molded like three feathers clumped together. Press the gold trigger switches on his wings, the the claws and wings extend out to the sides, and the feathers drop. Aside from a possible "offensive" use in battle, this also simulates the loss of feathers when Archadis moves around a lot in beast mode.
This is one beauty of a beast mode. The paint job is extremely impressive and the detail level is great, with each feather and scale getting careful detailing attention. Add to that how unusual this beast mode is, and this toy is already a nice piece without being transformed!
Transformation to Robot Mode:
Begin Archadis' transformation by folding down his legs. Straighten out his feet so the robot can stand on them. Turn the waist so the beast mode head faces to the left side. Fold down the robot arm on the right side, and then pull out the blue and purple feather piece. Rotate it around, and as you rotate it, the gun will rotate into the robot hand. Lift up the feather piece that covers the back of the beast mode. Now swing that section by holding the wings to the right robot arm. Swing up the robot head, and turn it so Archadis faces forward. Now, rotate and fold down the beast mode head to form the left arm. Fold the beast mode wings in to cover the chest and back and Archadis' robot mode is complete!
In robot mode, Archadis' vibrant beast mode colors are still prominant. His design is very suggestive of his beast mode. His head is shaped in an angled and sleek way, looking almost like a beak. His robot legs actually angle back slightly, showing a heavy "bird" influence. Most of all, his beast mode feathers are everywhere, on his arms, chest, back and shoulder. Despite a fairly awkward appearance at first, Archadis is actually very solid, and stands well despite the odd shaping of his body.
As a robot mode, Archadis has fourteen points of articulation. This includes fantastic jointing on his right arm with two points of articulation on the upper arm and one point at the elbow. This allows for him to aim his gun properly. Unfortunately, the beast mode wings do obstruct the other arm a bit. The lower part of the lower arm can still be seen, but it is difficult to get it in any position that would seem uselful to a warrior.
Despite the slight weakness of the left arm, Archadis is a sleek, fun toy with excellent detailing. A great addition to any Beast Wars Transformers collection. Highly recommended. A
