Returning to Cybertron victorious at the end of the Beast Wars, the Maximals find themselves on a nightmare world ruled by the hordes of Vehicon drones controlled by Megatron! This was the first toy series to reintroduce vehicular modes into the mainstream Transformers toy line, a trend that continued for years to come. A smaller version of this toy line was released in Japan in 2005 as "Beast Wars Returns".
