Day five of Transformers The Movie caps off an exciting adventure. It also takes the Transformers universe in a whole new direction, opening up the scale of the Autobot/Decepticon conflict from an Earth/Cybertron based battle to one that spans the galaxy.
Unicron has arrived at Cybertron, and Galvatron has joined him. Galvatron is not content to be a servant of Unicron any longer and shows his master the Autobot Matrix chained around his chest. He commands Unicron to do his bidding, or taste his wrath.
Day four of Transformers: The Movie begins a series of events which truly lead the Autobots into their darkest hour. It also gives the characters of Hot Rod and Kup a chance to shine while introducing new races to the Transformers universe.
Day three of Transformers: The Movie sets up the rest of the movie. With the older generation of Transformers (for the most part) out of the spotlight, we the audience get a chance to get to know these new Transformers through their interaction with each other and their situations.
Unicron has devoured Moon Base One and moon base two is next! Spike and Bumblebee manage to contact the Autobots on Earth. They tell them they will try to stop Unicron, and their signal is disrupted. Daniel cries out for his father.
One of the options given to the writer of Transformers the Movie was to give it a harder edge than the television series. This is very evident when Optimus orders the Dinobots to "destroy" Devastator, not stop him or just fight him.
From the beginning, Transformers the Movie is very "in your face", like most action movies of the time. The story wastes no time into plunging fans into a new world where old characters and new characters both interact.
