In the latter days of Generation One, Hasbro tried many new gimmicks to bring new life into the Transformers toy line. Once dominant in the toy aisles, by the late 80's Transformers was no longer the "hot toy" on the market. One of these attempts was a sub-line called "Action Masters", featuring non-transforming figures that came with transforming vehicles or partners. The packaging for these toys featured lavish artwork, but all packaging starts with concepts.

Thanks to Transformers at the Moon, fans can now see the beginnings of the Action Masters: the Action Heroes! These pieces of art were purely conceptual (as you can see with "Decepticon Grimlock" for instance) but they give you an idea of what would come later. This is a rare and curious glimpse into the past. Thank you to Transformers at the Moon for sharing these with fandom!
